Traditional religions, ancestor worship, and local gods have a lot in common. Are they really silly and barbaric?

Cultural Religions

Primitive Religions

The cultural religions (a.k.a. folk religions and cultural religions) generally involve the same things: ancestor worship, rituals for major events in life, witch doctors, etc. From American Indians and Ghauls, to the tribal people in New Guinea, you will notice that there are many similarities in the general practices and roles of their 'religions'. These religions are also uniformly barbaric, so far as I am aware.

These are the religions an atheist might point to when saying, 'God cannot be real, because there are far too many religions to expect people to find the right one.' Yet these customs are really quite similar, and to anyone who is aware of them but not part of one, they certainly do not point to anything true and good.
